Job summary

R.H. Sheppard Co. Inc. is seeking a Tester to test remanufactured steering gears and perform evaluation tests on warranty claims. The role includes troubleshooting and analyzing customer claims and communicating findings to warranty and quality control teams.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of production/manufacturing experience, with ability to read plans/blueprints and apply lean manufacturing principles. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year experience in production/manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend plans and/or blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “S” standards required to perform daily duties, including lifting/moving of parts.
  • Perform point test on test stand for both remanufactured and warranty units of all models.
  • Pretest warranty, diagnose problem, repair and communicate technical information to warranty and quality control departments.
  • Input data entry transactions and retrieve information by accessing the computer.
  • Maintain a clean work station and retrieve materials as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Description

The primary responsibility of the Tester position is to test remanufactured steering gears, perform evaluation tests on warranty claims; troubleshoot and analyze customer claims.

Essential Duties
  • Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “ S ” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts
  • Perform point test on test stand for both remanufactured and warranty units of all models
  • Pretest warranty, diagnose problem, repair and communicate technical information to the warranty and quality control departments
  • Input data entry transactions and retrieve information by accessing the computer
  • Maintain a clean work station and retrieve materials as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Environmental Conditions
  • May be exposed to moderate heat, light dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, noise and hazards such as electrical shock or gases. Some outside assignments could involve exposure to adverse weather conditions. Adequate hearing protection is required for 85 decibels and above.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Schedule
  • 8-hour Day Shift Monday through Friday
