Job summary

Airsys Cooling Technologies is seeking a Quality Tester to perform final inspection and live testing of HVAC and industrial cooling units before shipment. The role ensures compliance with electrical, mechanical, functional, and safety standards per specifications and regulatory requirements.

The tester will energize and evaluate live systems, diagnose issues, document results, and release units for shipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Demonstrated experience testing live electrical systems and fully assembled equipment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with a quality‑first mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical judgments.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance and demonstrated accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Perform final inspection and live functional testing on completed units prior to shipment
  • Safely energize, operate, and evaluate live electrical systems, motors, controls, and instrumentation
  • Verify product compliance against electrical schematics, test specifications, quality standards, and customer and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct advanced electrical and operational testing including voltage, current, continuity, insulation, and functional performance
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and document electrical, control, or system-level failures
  • Authorize final quality release or clearly identify nonconformances requiring correction
  • Serve as the final quality sign-off for units approved for shipment
  • Accurately complete all testing records, inspection reports, and quality documentation
  • Escalate recurring defects, safety risks, or systemic issues to Quality and Engineering
  • Partner with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to support root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to test procedures, quality standards, and defect prevention
  • Maintain strict adherence to electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout, PPE, and live-test protocols
  • Maintain test stations, equipment calibration status, and organized work areas per 5S standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Role Overview

The Quality Tester is responsible for performing final inspection and live operational testing of completed HVAC and industrial cooling units prior to shipment. This role serves as the final quality gate, ensuring all products meet electrical, mechanical, functional, and safety requirements in accordance with internal specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform final inspection and live functional testing on completed units prior to shipment

  • Experience with controls, VFDs, PLC interfaces, or automation systems
  • Familiarity with quality systems, nonconformance reporting, and corrective action processes
  • Experience working with engineering or technical documentation updates
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Continuously required to communicate effectively by talking and listening.
  • Use of fingers and hands, repetitive motion.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 75% of the work period while operating equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.
