Job summary

Spang Engineered Solutions in McKinney, TX is seeking a Tester to perform electrical and mechanical testing of electronic components. You will set up and calibrate test equipment, record results, and follow procedures using inductance analyzers, hi-pot meters, calipers, and gauges.

A two-year associate degree in relevant tech fields is preferred; IPC certification a plus; strong manual dexterity and analytical skills required for accurate testing and documentation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Automation Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with microscopes and soldering or soldering inspection.
• Familiarity with reading electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of GD&T principles and IPC certification a plus.
• Strong manual dexterity and analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Set up and calibrate test equipment for electrical and mechanical testing.
• Test electronic components and record results following procedures.
• Use inductance analyzers, hi-pot meters and other equipment during tests.
• Perform mechanical measurements with calipers, height gauges and micrometers.
• Inspect components under magnification and assist with incoming inspection.
• Test small and large volume production of electronic components.

Job description

Spang Engineered Solutions, a division of Spang & Company, has an opening for a Tester based in McKinney, TX. This position is responsible for performing electrical and mechanical testing of electronic components using drawings, schematics, work instructions, specifications, and manuals.

Spang Engineered Solutions designs and manufactures custom inductive components for an array of industries including renewable energy, solar, medical, aerospace, automotive, and military. Our manufacturing locations include Pittsburgh, PA, Phoenix, AZ, and McKinney, TX in the U.S.A., and Xiamen, China.

Primary responsibilities include setting up and calibrating test equipment, testing electronic components and recording test results, following test procedures, using inductance analyzers, hi-pot meters and other custom equipment, performing mechanical measurements using calipers, height gauges and micrometers, inspecting electronic components under magnification, assisting with incoming inspection, and testing small and large volume production of electronic components.

Qualifications include an associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Automation Technology, or equivalent experience. Experience with microscopes, soldering or soldering inspection, basic mechanical measurement and inspection techniques, and reading electrical and mechanical drawings and schematics is beneficial. Knowledge of GD&T principles and IPC certification are a plus. Strong manual dexterity, analytical ability, math aptitude, organization, and basic computer skills are also required.
