Job summary

Legrand is seeking a Test Technician II in Canonsburg, PA to support daily production testing of electromechanical assemblies and automated manufacturing tech. The role requires a two-year technical degree, 2+ years in electrical testing, and strong LabVIEW knowledge.

Qualifications

• Two-year technical degree or equivalent in electrical/electronic field.
• Minimum 2 years in electrical/electronic testing or related experience.
• Knowledge of high-voltage safety practices.
• Ability to read drawings, schematics and assembly instructions.
• Proficient use of hand and power tools.
• Awareness of international test standards (UL/NEC/IEC/CE).

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Test Technician II to join the Power and Thermal Management Team in Canonsburg, PA. As a member of the Test Engineering team, the Test Technician position will support daily production testing of electromechanical assemblies and the implementation of automated manufacturing technologies through software and hardware systems construction, validation, data collection, operator training, technical support and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, upgrade, repair and troubleshoot production test systems and automated manufacturing technologies (software and hardware).
• Validate functionality of software and hardware systems prior to deployment or following updates.
• Update LabVIEW application source code under direction and guidance of Test Engineers
• Develop training materials and guidance, and provide training support as needed, both internally (all Starline sites) and externally (all global contract manufacturers).
• Provide on-demand technical support through the Production Technology Help Desk
  • Respond to and troubleshoot all issues
  • Escalate issues to engineers, as necessary
  • Ensure all issues are addressed and closed
• Maintain test equipment inventory
  • Maintain test equipment inventory logs
  • Prepare ready-to-deploy spares for critical components
  • Ensure that the equipment requiring calibration remains current
  • Handle RMAs for equipment requiring repair
• Create technical documentation such as drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, installation instructions and work instructions.
• Provide general IT troubleshooting and support for test equipment, printers, computers, and other company devices used in the manufacturing processes at Contract Manufacturers and Starline locations.
• Adhere to all company policies, guidelines and practices.
• Assembly of test stations, fixtures, probes and other Starline equipment.
• Assist Test Engineers, as needed.
• Oversee and support outfitting new assembly lines with required test equipment, both internally and externally, on a global scale.
• Investigate and correct production test issues that are not identified by the test systems.
• Identify opportunities for new technologies and improvements.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
• Flexible scheduling to support global operations, as necessary.
  

Education

QUALIFICATIONS

• Two-year technical degree, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 2 years in electrical/electronic testing or other relevant experience.
• Understanding of high-voltage electrical safety practices.
• Working knowledge of international test standards as they apply to Starline products (UL/NEC/IEC/CE/CCC).
• Ability to develop and read technical assembly drawings, schematics and assembly instructions.
• Proficient use of hand tools and power tools.
• Proficient knowledge of network and computing equipment.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Ability to interface with frontline production team members in a professional manner in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Ability to interface and integrate with cross-functional teams as part of Operational and Engineering projects and processes.
• Knowledge of safety standards and the ability to integrate them into processes and test system design.
• Working knowledge of IT troubleshooting tools and practices.
• Ability to create technical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and operating instructions/manuals.
• Basic understanding of LabVIEW-based software applications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in relation to software development and electronics testing.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Primary environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
• The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain tasks require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
• Regularly required to stand; walk and communicate with others.
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
• Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
