Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA, is seeking a TEST TECHNICIAN (FALCON) to perform pneumatic and hydraulic tests on flight hardware and analyze data for acceptance criteria. The role uses LabVIEW and precision tools to assemble test rigs and flight hardware for mockups and test assemblies.

Responsibilities include operating high-pressure test carts, handling cryogenic gases, and implementing design changes. Weekends and travel up to 5% may be required. Competitive benefits are offered.

  • 2+ years of testing experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or military environment.
  • Experience with pressure, cryogenic (gas & liquid) and hydrostatic systems.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience operating high-pressure test carts for pneumatic testing.
  • Experience with computer-based data analysis (LabVIEW).
  • Experience with actuators, plumbing (hydraulic/pneumatic) setup and operation.
  • Experience with high pressure (>1000 psi) gases.

TEST TECHNICIAN (FALCON)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Control and manage pneumatic and hydraulic tests on flight hardware
  • Use hand tools, high pressure pumps, and protective equipment
  • Work with high pressure gases, such as helium, gaseous nitrogen, and liquid nitrogen
  • Understand and analyze test data to meet acceptance criteria established by engineering
  • Use computer software programs for controlling tests
  • Layout, fabricate, assemble, and install experimental and production flight hardware for master mock-ups, full scale operating models, and test assemblies
  • Repair or replace flight hardware due to engineering design changes and test failures
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of testing experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or military environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with pressure, cryogenic (gaseous and liquid), and hydrostatic systems
  • Experience using tooling such as form blocks, drill jigs, and shop aids
  • Experience using hand tools and precision measuring equipment
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience operating high-pressure test carts for pneumatic testing
  • Experience with computer-based data analysis (such as LabVIEW)
  • Experience with actuators, plumbing (hydraulic/pneumatic – both set up and operation of these systems)
  • Experience with high pressure (>1000 psi) gases
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and/or weekends, as needed. Nominal hours – 1st shift:03:30AM –02:00PM; 2nd shift:02:00PM to12:30AM
  • Ability to travel to different sites, as needed, up to 5%
  • Ability to support repetitive assembly operations: grasping, standing, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, stooping, stretching, working at heights and carrying are generally required to perform the functions of this position
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments as needed
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:

  • Level 1: $23.00 - $27.00
  • Level 2: $26.00 - $32.50
  • Level 3: $31.00 - $38.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
