Job summary

Eaton’s CPDI OPS Operations in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Test Technician I for the 1st shift to test, troubleshoot and repair single phase and three phase UPS systems, ensuring performance meets specifications.

You will read schematics, follow ISO 9001 quality guidelines, implement corrective actions, and work with Production, Quality Engineering and Test Engineers to resolve issues; maintain a clean, organized workspace per 5S+.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school.
• Minimum of one year electronics testing and troubleshooting experience.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Relocation assistance is not available; must be within 50 miles; Active Duty Military exempt.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot and repair single and three phase UPS systems.
• Read electronic schematics to verify product specifications.
• Report non-conformances using Quality Management Guidelines.
• Suggest modifications to improve quality, reliability, manufacturability and cost.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineers and Test Engineers to resolve issues.
• Ensure equipment compliance with ISO 9000:2000 standards and maintain 5S+ workspace.

Eaton’s CPDI OPS Operations division is currently seeking a Test Technician - 1st Shift - RPO at our Spring Forest Rd site in Raleigh, NC.

The pay rate for this position is $25 per hour.

Core hours are 6:00am - 2:30pm

What You’ll Do

The Test Technician I will perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on single phase and three phase medium voltage UPS systems

In This Role

• You will exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position. You will ensure that all products and parts adequately meet Eaton’s quality guidelines as they move throughout the production process and perform quality checks as instructed.
• You will read electronic schematics to ensure products meet defined specifications
• You will report any Non-conformance items by utilizing our Quality Management Guidelines
• You will recommend modifications and improvements to enhance the products for quality, reliability, manufacturability and cost effectiveness
• You will communicate with Production Associates, Quality Engineering Technician, Manufacturing Engineers and Test Engineers to resolve daily production and warranty issues
• You will check maintain equipment to ensure compliance with ISO 9000:2000 standards
• You will identify and implement corrective actions for the repair, replacement and calibration of laboratory tools and manufacturing equipment
• You will use the principles of 5S+ to ensure a clean and organized work area

Qualifications

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school
• A minimum of one year of work experience in electronics with testing and troubleshooting skills
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Only candidates in the immediate geographic area (50 mile radius) will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of switchboard and switchgear operations; electrical and electronic devices
• Two years post-secondary education with an Associate’s Degree in electronics from an accredited school
• Manufacturing systems knowledge (KANBAN, JIT, Production scheduling)
• Experience with DC battery currents
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications

• Demonstrated ability to take and give direction
• Ability to use good judgment and problem solving skills to make informed decisions
• Good interpersonal and presentation skills
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels
• Basic computer knowledge of Windows based operating systems and programs
• Ability to read and understand formal, informal drawings, and/or electronic schematics
• Ability to completely test and troubleshoot electronic products
• Ability to work daily and/or weekend overtime, willingness to flex to different areas or local plants as needed
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to distinguish colored wiring
