Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electronics or Electro-Mechanical Automation or equivalent experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or test environment.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical instructions and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies and automation systems.
  • Explain test results and schedules to team members and supervisors.
  • Provide input on improvements based on data and observations.
  • Adhere to production, test, and quality procedures; document results.
  • Use both manual and automated tests to verify system functionality.
  • Document actions and communicate issues; assist in production scheduling.

UCT is looking for a talented Test Technician I to join us in Austin, TX! The Test Technician I performs functional testing and troubleshooting of electronic, electro‑mechanical, and automated systems to ensure products meet quality, reliability, and performance requirements. This role utilizes manual and automated test methods to verify system functionality, identify issues, and support timely production schedules. By adhering to established test procedures and quality standards, documenting results, communicating findings, and recommending process improvements, the Test Technician I contributes to efficient manufacturing operations and the delivery of high‑quality products.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs testing and troubleshooting of general electronic, electro-mechanical assemblies, automation systems and machines to meet production schedule.
  • Explain test results and schedules to other team members, area leaders or supervisors.
  • Provides input and recommendations to area lead and other team members on improvement opportunities based on data and observations.
  • Maintains adherence to production, test, and quality system procedures; retrieves test procedures from corporate databases.
  • Utilizes both manual and automated tests to perform system level testing to ensure product quality and reliability in accordance with company specifications.
  • Works cooperatively on project work team; documents and communicates actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Mechanically inclined with a fair level of dexterity to construct simple test set ups per documented instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to read and comprehend technical instructions, drawings and procedures as well as knowledgeable with using a variety of measurements and test equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focused.
  • Ability to work extended or non-standard work scheduled to meet specific personal training, department and production needs.
  • Ability to work well with others and to foster a learning atmosphere within a team environment.
  • Applicable knowledge of Microsoft Office and various other windows/DOS based applications along with general software and computer experience to operate and monitor test equipment to run pass/fail criteria on assemblies.
Educational/Certification Requirement
  • Associate degree in Electronics or Electro-Mechanical Automation or equivalent work experience.

  • 1-2 years’ experience in a Manufacturing or Test Environment.
