Job summary

Molex Reliability Lab in Lisle, Illinois, is seeking a Lab Test Technician to support diversified engineering teams and build/modify test assemblies for mechanical, environmental, and electrical tests. You will document test data, analyze results, and ensure quality through visual inspection and dimensional measurements.

The role emphasizes developing SOPs for repeatable test methods, handling chemical exposures, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize testing processes.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years’ related experience or an Associate’s degree with 1+ year’s related experience.
  • Proficient with hand soldering equipment/techniques.
  • Working knowledge of interconnect systems, twisted pair, coaxial conductors.
  • Experience with wire preparation and termination (crimped, soldered, welded).

  • Build/modify/prep connector assemblies, cable assemblies, modules, PC boards, load boards for various tests.
  • Document and communicate test data; analyze results.
  • Perform visual inspections at various magnifications; use image stitching where needed.
  • Take dimensional measurements per engineering drawings.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for repeatable test methods and results.
  • Handle Chemical Exposures in testing environment.

Job description

Molex Reliability Lab is seeking a talented Lab Test Technician to join our team in Lisle, Illinois, and support our globally diverse, multi-functional, Engineering teams.

Responsibilities
  • Build/modify/prep connector assemblies, cable assemblies, modules, PC boards, load boards, etc. for various mechanical, environmental, & electrical tests using manual/automated tools and hand soldering equipment/techniques
  • Document and communicate test data, while applying critical thinking to properly analyze results
  • Visual inspection at various magnifications, picture stitching
  • Dimensional measurements with reference to Engineering drawings
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedure documents to ensure repeatable and reproducible test methods/results
  • Chemical Exposures
Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in reading and executing test plans
  • Analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results and make corrections Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and in a team
  • Ability to remain flexible when changes arise
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years’ work experience in a related field; OR an Associate’s degree and 1+ years’ work experience in a related field required
  • Proficient with hand soldering equipment/techniques
  • Working knowledge of interconnect systems, twisted pair, coaxial conductors, etc.
  • Experience with any of the following wire preparation and termination techniques (crimped, soldered, welded)
Preferred
  • Experience with measurement tools (i.e. drop gauge, caliper, crimp micrometer, dimensional measurements using microscope software)
  • Experience using lab equipment such as milli/micro-ohmmeter, microscopes, continuity meter, multimeter, etc.
  • Troubleshooting skills of interconnect systems to aid in root cause failure analysis
  • Experience using test plan development & management tools is a plus

For this role, we anticipate paying $65,000- $75,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
