Job Title: Electro-Mechanical Test Technician

This role focuses on testing electro-mechanical sub-systems and components in a dedicated reliability test lab environment. You will set up and run tests based on formal test plans, collect and document test data, and create clear test reports that support product reliability and performance. This position is well-suited for an entry-level engineer or technician with an associate's degree and 1-2+ years of product testing experience who enjoys hands-on work with gears, motors, mechanisms, and other moving parts.

Responsibilities

• Follow established test plans to set up, execute, and monitor tests on electro-mechanical sub-assemblies and individual components, particularly those used in printer mechanisms.
• Perform product testing on gears, motors, mechanisms, linkages, and other moving parts that transport media through printing equipment.
• Use test equipment and electro-mechanical tools, such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, to conduct measurements and verify performance.
• Collect, organize, and document test data accurately throughout the testing process.
• Create clear and detailed test reports that summarize test methods, observations, results, and any issues identified.
• Work within a test lab environment to conduct lab-based testing, ensuring proper setup, safety, and adherence to procedures.
• Interpret schematics and technical documentation to understand test setups and component configurations.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical team members to communicate findings and support ongoing product reliability efforts.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods and lab practices by providing feedback based on test results and observations.

Essential Skills

• Associate's degree in Engineering or Electronics, such as BSME, BSEET, or BSEE; entry-level candidates with relevant education will be considered.
• 1-2+ years of product testing experience in a technical environment.
• Prior experience working in a test lab setting, specifically testing electro-mechanical sub-systems and components.
• Ability to follow detailed test plans, including setting up tests, running tests, and collecting test data.
• Proficiency in using test equipment and electro-mechanical test tools.
• Experience documenting test data and creating structured test reports.
• Hands-on experience testing moving parts, including gears, motors, mechanisms, linkages, and mechatronic assemblies.
• Ability to work with test data and interpret results to identify performance trends and issues.
• Capability to read and understand schematics and related technical documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background as a Test Technician, Electronics Technician, Test Engineer, Electronics Engineer, or Electro-Mechanical Technician.
• Experience with electro-mechanical product testing and lab testing environments.
• Familiarity with multimeters and oscilloscopes for electrical and electronic measurements.
• Experience generating comprehensive test reports based on collected test data.
• Interest in reliability testing and long-term product performance validation.
• Strong attention to detail and methodical approach to testing and documentation.

Work Environment

This position is based in a dedicated reliability test lab with a small, focused team of approximately seven employees. The site is strictly a test facility, and no manufacturing is performed on location. You will work hands-on with printer sub-assemblies and internal components, including gears, motors, mechanisms, and other electro-mechanical parts. The environment emphasizes careful lab procedures, accurate data collection, and collaboration with technical staff. Standard lab tools and electronic test equipment, such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, are used regularly. The work is primarily lab-based and technical in nature, with a professional atmosphere focused on product reliability and performance.

This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo Grove, IL.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
