Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Test Specialist, Components (Starshield) in Hawthorne, CA, to support initial bring-up and production testing of Starshield satellites. You will design tooling, build fixtures, and assist engineers in sub-system development testing, including TVAC/EMI validation.

The role requires hands-on electrical/mechanical testing, high-voltage safety, and the ability to read schematics. Onsite work with long shifts and potential overtime is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, math, or a technical field, or a high school diploma with 2+ years hands-on experience.
• Experience performing electronic testing and inspection with portable devices.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and electromechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of Ohm's Law, power supplies, digital logic, and AV/communication protocols.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.
• Perform tests with and without engineers per procedures.
• Read test logs and data to troubleshoot test-system errors.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop and document test procedures.
• Develop safety barriers and protocols for high-voltage testing hazards.
• Assist in designing test fixtures, setups, and stands for qualification/development.
• Fabricate electrical/mechanical test hardware (DAQs, harnesses, HV systems) as defined.
• Uncover root causes of failures and document permanent resolutions.
• Develop procedures and train operators for execution, maintenance, and anomaly handling.
• Maintain shop floor, floor stock, tooling, and ground support equipment.
