We our helping our client find a Test Mechatronics Engineer to support the testing, validation, and troubleshooting of complex hardware systems in a hands-on development lab.
In this role, you'll test mechanical, electrical, and firmware-integrated systems throughout the hardware development lifecycle, from initial assembly through testing and iterative improvements. Your testing activities, demonstrations, and documented results will also contribute to training AI systems to better understand hands-on physical work.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on electromechanical testing experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to identify system failures and communicate technical findings clearly.
Recording & Data Collection Notice
- This role involves recording your work to support AI training and development.
- Lab cameras and screen recording on your work device will capture your activities.
- Depending on the project, you may also be asked to wear sensors, such as motion trackers or pressure-sensing gloves, that collect biometric data.
- Before starting, you'll receive details about the recording and data collection requirements specific to your role, how your data will be protected, and the consent process.
As a Test Mechatronics Engineer, you'll:
- Test complete hardware systems and subsystems, including actuated mechanisms and moving platforms, to evaluate actuator performance, sensing, and control loops.
- Translate hardware performance requirements and success criteria into structured test procedures, including data collection and logging.
- Diagnose system failures and identify root causes across mechanical, electrical, and firmware components.
- Document test results, failures, and technical findings to support troubleshooting and future hardware improvements.
- Use data loggers, load cells, oscilloscopes, test fixtures, and Python-based test scripts to support system testing and validation.
- Review written and on-screen work instructions, identify inaccuracies, and provide feedback to improve technical documentation.
Nice to have: motor tuning, test automation, fixture design.
Daily tasks
How your work is used:
- your builds, demonstrations and worked examples become training data that helps AI systems understand hands‑on physical work.
- You'll also review the written and on-screen instructions at your bench and tell us where they're wrong.
- This role involves recording, and we want you to know exactly what that means before you apply.
- Cameras in the lab and screen recording on your work device capture your work. Depending on the project, you may also wear sensors such as motion trackers or pressure-sensing gloves, which collect biometric data.
- You'll see exactly what applies to your role, and how that data is protected, and you'll give your consent before you start.
What you'll do:
- Test whole hardware systems and subsystems (mechanisms, actuators, moving platforms) where mechanics, electronics and firmware meet: actuator performance, sensing, control loops.
- Turn the build's success criteria into test runs with data logging.
- Trace each failure to its mechanical, electrical or firmware cause. Write clear test reports.
Required skills:
- 2+ years of hands-on electromechanical system testing. Has tested actuated mechanisms or moving platforms and understands where electromechanical systems fail.
- Tools: data loggers, load cells, oscilloscope, test fixtures, Python for test scripts.
