Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking a 2nd shift Test Operator to set up, test, and troubleshoot lab equipment and chillers for engineering programs in the New Freedom area. You will record data, work under engineers’ guidance, and train teammates on key processes.

Travel to the Grantley Plant in York PA may be required. Competitive hourly pay with a small shift differential, and a strong safety culture accompany this role.

Qualifications

• Teamwork is essential for success. Operators need to work cooperatively with co-workers, engineering team members, and leadership to facilitate finishing daily tasks and meeting project goals consistently.
• Critical thinking is key to identify and resolve issues and support corrective actions.
• Working from drawings, test request documents, sketches, procedures, specifications, code requirements, laboratory standards, and manuals.
• Perform connections of piping, lines, and test instrumentation from facility hookups to equipment to be tested.
• Operate facility equipment such as fans, pumps, heaters, controls, and data acquisition devices.

Responsibilities

• Set up, test, observe, record data and operate test equipment.
• Work under the direction of engineers or technicians on assigned shift tasks.
• Train and transfer knowledge to others on processes including refrigerant handling and rigging.
• Follow drawings, procedures, and specifications to perform tasks.
• Operate and install test fixtures and piping for chillers and related equipment.
• Maintain safe, clean, and organized test areas and comply with safety policies.
