Job summary

HARMAN Automotive seeks a Test Engineer in Novi to develop and improve software test cases, validate connectivity on bench and in-vehicle, and lead adoption of new testing technologies. You will work with engineering teams to ensure milestones are met and communicate effectively with customers.

The role requires 5+ years in automotive testing of infotainment or telematics, strong CAN knowledge, and experience with embedded/Android platforms. On-site in Novi with flexible options may apply.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automotive project experience and testing Infotainment or telematic systems.
• Knowledge of connectivity testing tools and methods.
• Experience with software test life cycle and test design methodologies.
• Familiarity with CAN protocol and CAN analyzers.
• Experience with Embedded Systems or Android platforms.
• Experience with test automation and scripting languages.
• Proficient in test case development, execution, and reporting.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and Jira is a plus.

About the Role

The Test Engineer is responsible for developing and improve software test cases, test processes, methods and documentation. This position will lead software validation for projects or teams on connectivity, both on test bench and in-vehicle.

What You Will Do

• Help improve software test cases, test processes, methods, and documentation.
• Leads system/sw validation for projects or teams on connectivity, both on test bench and vehicle.
• Initiates and fosters team wide activities in learning and adopting new and relevant state of the art technologies for automotive infotainment, consumer electronics, embedded systems, software testing, and test tools.
• Meet regularly with project teams and partners to ensure milestones are defined, understood and being met. Identify dependencies, risks, and drive resolution to roadblocks.
• Understand the technical details of the product to a level that you can effectively communicate with the customer and the engineering team.
• Identifies product requirement or performance issues. Work with software teams and/or partners to implement solutions to meet those requirements
• Work using an agile development process and maintain status in JIRA.
• Report regularly on project status to appropriate stakeholders.
• Work with peer project test leads across Harman and other customers to ensure dependencies and schedules are aligned.

What You Need to Be Successful

• 5+ years’ experience in automotive projects and testing of Infotainment or telematic systems
• Working knowledge of technology, tools, and test methods for connectivity
• Working knowledge of functional and non-functional software testing, the software test life cycle, and various test design methodologies.
• Good working knowledge of CAN protocol, CAN analyzer tools
• Expertise in testing on Embedded Systems or Android Platform, Android Applications
• Expertise in test/debug tools
• Good working knowledge of test automation, scripting languages
• Expertise in software testing across all phases of Software Development Life Cycle
• Expert in test case development, test execution, test management, test status reporting
• Excellent time management & organizational skills with keen attention to detail
• Effectively works under tight deadlines and manage projects independently
• Experience with Agile and Scrum methodology
• Experience with Jira is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Resourcefulness in solving problems and overcoming obstacles
• Strong professionalism and judgment
• BS Computer Science/Engineering desired, MS strongly preferred.

• This position requires the use of a use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle. As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in HARMAN’s sole discretion, no more than 4 active points for moving violations (issued by any motor vehicle agency), and no references to operating a vehicle under the influence of controlled substances within the last 10 years.

Salary Ranges:
$ 78,750 - $ 115,500
