6 Degrees Search is seeking a Test Engineering Manager to lead the test development and production test engineering teams. You will own the design, implementation, and optimization of automated, cost-effective test strategies for complex PCBA and electromechanical systems.

You will bridge design requirements with factory floor execution, ensuring product reliability and quality throughput while driving cross-functional collaboration with Design, Production, and Quality teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5–8+ years of engineering experience in a PCBA EMS environment.
• 3+ years in supervisory or management role.
• Robust knowledge of SMT, through-hole, and automated test platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, test developers, and test technicians; manage resources, budgets and timelines.
• Architect standardized, reusable test equipment and automated test environments (ICT, Flying Probe, Functional Testing).
• Oversee diagnostic programs and test automation using LabVIEW, TestStand, C#, and .NET.
• Promote Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) principles early in the product lifecycle.
• Analyze PCBA failure trends, debug root causes, and optimize test cycles to reduce cycle times and prevent defects.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Test Engineering Manager to lead our test development and production test engineering teams. In this role, you will take ownership of the design, implementation, and optimization of automated, cost-effective test strategies for complex PCBA and electromechanical systems. You will bridge the gap between design requirements and factory floor execution, ensuring the highest standards of product reliability and quality throughput.

Core Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Mentor, supervise, and expand a team of electrical engineers, test developers, and test technicians. Coordinate resource allocation, budgets, and engineering timelines.
• Test Strategy & Design: Lead the architectural development of standardized, reusable test equipment, custom test fixtures, and automated test environments (ICT, Flying Probe, and Functional Testing).
• Software & Diagnostics: Oversee the creation of diagnostic programs and test automation protocols utilizing frameworks such as LabVIEW, TestStand, C#, or .NET.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Design Engineering, Production Operations, and Quality teams to champion Design-for-Test (DFT) and Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM) principles early in the product lifecycle.
• Continuous Improvement: Perform PCBA failure trend analysis, debug root-cause failures, and optimize factory test cycles to minimize cycle times and prevent downstream defects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a highly related technical discipline.
• Experience: Minimum of 5–8+ years of engineering experience within a PCBA manufacturing/EMS environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Technical Skills: Robust knowledge of electronics manufacturing flows (SMT, through-hole, mixed-technology), test instrumentation, boundary-scan, and automated test platforms.
• Compliance: Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IPC, ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949).
