Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking an intern for its Test Systems Engineering group. You will design and implement test hardware and software for production testing of new products, while collaborating with product development engineering and manufacturing facilities.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, process improvements, and technical reporting. The preferred candidate is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in CS, ME, or EE, with a graduation date on or after December 2027, and has familiarity

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
• Familiar with NI TestStand and NI LabVIEW.
• Basic RF knowledge.
• Familiar with test systems hardware & software architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement test hardware and software for production testing of new products.
• Evaluate deadlines, goals and develop project schedules.
• Design, develop, and implement solutions to improve test yields and test time, increase capacity, minimize downtime, and optimize test/process flows.
• Analyze and critique equipment designs/processes relative to market requirements, manufacturability, costs and technical requirements.
• Identify technical and quality problems, assess alternatives and select best approach including conformity to specifications and reparability.
• Prepare and present technical reports to influence decisions and participate as a speaker in technical programs.

Department Overview

Test Systems Engineering: Designs, builds, and deploys test solutions into our various global manufacturing sites. These solutions are used to program, tune, and test the company's product portfolio. This helps ensure that our products are performing per customer specifications. This process is accomplished by working closely with our product development engineering and manufacturing facilities.

Job Description

• Design, develop and implement test hardware and software for production testing of new products.
• Evaluate deadlines, goals and develop project schedules.
• Design, develops, and implement solutions to improve test yields, reduce over all Test time, provide for test capacity increases, minimize downtime, and optimize test/process flows.
• This includes implementing new processes and technologies, utilizing statistical tools, and developing innovations to existing problems and issues.
• Analyze and critiques equipment designs/processes relative to market requirements, manufacturability, costs and technical requirements.
• Identify technical and quality problems, determines alternatives and evaluates them to arrive at the most acceptable approach including conformity to specifications, reliability, cost effectiveness, testability and reparability.
• Identify need for, assesses and/or develops technical/process specification standards and participates in establishing the procedures to ensure they are followed.
• Prepare and present technical reports to influence the decision making process.
• Provide technical information and participates as a speaker in technical programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with NI Teststand and NI Labview
• Basic RF knowledge
• Familiarity with test systems Hardware and Software architecture
• Able to work with minimum supervision
• Familiarity with Python, C & C++

Basic Requirements

• Currently, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• Must have a graduation date on or after December 2027
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
• Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.
