X-energy is seeking a Senior Test Engineering professional to plan, develop, and execute test activities for advanced reactor technologies in Gaithersburg, MD. The role coordinates with system engineers to plan testing, oversee hardware lifecycle, and document results across the organization.

The candidate should have a strong background in test planning and execution, hands-on hardware experience, and the ability to lead testing programs within strict QA/regulatory frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or nuclear engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Level IV: typically ten years of experience in a test engineering role; Level V: typically fifteen years.
  • A master's or PhD may substitute years of experience per policy; hands-on hardware development experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Help enact standard processes and best practices for technology maturation, test planning and execution.
  • Coordinate with system engineers to assess risks, define testing needs and develop test plans & specifications.
  • Oversee design, development, procurement, installation, testing and decommissioning of test facilities and hardware.
  • Provide oversight of testing activities and ensure technical and programmatic completeness of tests.
  • Supervise test setup, installation, commissioning and execution in person.
  • Maintain professional demeanor in all communications and perform other duties as assigned.

The role will coordinate with system engineers to identify required testing, plan the necessary test program(s), oversee the entire test hardware lifecycle including development, procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, and decommissioning, and document and communicate results throughout the organization.The role may work in a general office space (onsite/remotely via technology) and/or in a designated facility laboratory area. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to talk, hear, walk, and move consistently throughout the day. May be subject to high temperatures, noises, and vibrations from generating equipment. May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals. Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
