Ideal Innovations, Inc. in Bethesda, MD seeks a Test Engineer SME to own automated testing within a SAFe Agile DevSecOps pipeline on a commercial cloud platform.

You will write Python validation scripts and automated tests with Selenium and Katalon Studio, shape test strategies, and drive performance and data validation in CI/CD.

US Citizenship with TS/SCI and CI poly is required; strong experience in AWS, DevOps, and SAFe environments is essential.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with a CI poly is required.
• Masters with 15+ years of relevant experience or PhD with 13+ years of relevant experience; substitutions allowed.
• Ability to test front-end and back-end processes.
• Experience scripting in Python for automation.
• Extensive experience creating, executing, and documenting test cases in an Agile cadence.
• Extensive experience working within Commercial Cloud Platforms (AWS) and DevOps tools.
• Experience working in SAFe Agile and DevOps environments.

Highlights

• Serve as the subject-matter expert for automated testing within a tailored SAFe Agile DevSecOps pipeline and commercial cloud environment.
• Develop Python validation scripts and automated test cases using Selenium and Katalon Studio for front-end and back-end applications.
• Shape advanced test approaches, performance evaluations, test data, and corner cases to meet User Story and customer needs.
• Apply extensive AWS, DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile testing experience to improve repeatability, configuration management, and feedback loops.
• Provide deep technical expertise while supporting collaboration and cross-training across systems engineering, software development, training, and security.

Typical Day

This Test Engineer SME will provide technical expertise with developing and executing automated testing scripts as part of a tailored SAFe Agile DevSecOps pipeline. As a Test Engineer on this program, you will have the opportunity to perform software development to implement scripts, evaluate test results, and feedback loops in a Continuous Integration Continuous Delivery Pipeline; all within Commercial cloud development environments. Flexible cross-training to also provide systems engineering, software development, training, and security is also desired.

Tasks

• Participate in program Agile software development initiatives (standup, planning, Increment planning) to support innovation and enhancement of custom applications through iteration/functionality testing.
• Participate and collaborate with team members to assess StoryPoint/complexity efforts (using best practices) to ensure proper testing and delivery of functionality per User Story Acceptance Criteria.
• Collaborate with team members (Scrum Master, Product Owner, Software Developers) to develop test approaches with emphasis on automation of recurring/regression test cases through selected toolsets.
• Develop test validation scripts using program designated languages (ex: Python); and also develop automated test cases using knowledge of custom Applications through designated GUI/COTS products (ex: Selenium and Katalon Studio).
• Leverage DevOps practices to ensure repeatability and Configuration Management of test cases/scripts are maintained and continuously improved.
• Support performance testing/evaluation activities using tools such as Jmeter; and develop and document end-to-end functionality test case narratives using task management system (JIRA/Confluence).
• Generate test data and identify use/corner cases required to meet User Story/Customer needs.

Required Qualifications

• To be considered, must have an active TS/SCI with at least a CI-poly.
• Education: Masters with 15 or more years of relevant experience or a PhD with 13 or more years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
• Ability to test both front end changes and back-end applications processes.
• Expertise with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automating tasks and test data/script development.
• Extensive experience creating, authoring, executing, and documenting test cases for software products in an Agile cadence; using software performance testing practices.
• Extensive experience working/testing within Commercial Cloud Platforms (ex: AWS) and DevOps tools.
• Demonstrated ability to work within collaborative environment to execute test cases complimentary to development efforts.
• Extensive experience working in a SAFe Agile and DevOps development environment and tempo.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience with administration of MS Windows Server or Linux environments (Lab or Personal development space)
• Experience reviewing output of CI jobs and capable of tracking test failures back to code changes that resulted in bugs
• Capable of review code check-ins to understand the impact of code changes on system functionality and potential applications bugs.
• Direct experience with AWS environments

Position Type Shift Information

• Mon-Fri, 40 hr work week
