Job summary

Heaviside Industries is seeking an engineer to lead testing of autonomous undersea systems at our Los Angeles headquarters. You will own testing from planning to product delivery, plan tests, and manage equipment and requirements.

The role requires 3+ years of experience with AUVs/UUVs or related maritime systems, design/fabrication of test gear, and eligibility for ITAR/U.S. Person status. Security clearance is a plus. This is a full-time on-site position in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience testing complex maritime systems (AUVs/UUVs, ROVs, unmanned vessels).
• Ability to design and fabricate test equipment and manage sourcing, production, and operation.
• U.S. Government security clearance eligibility (ITAR) and U.S. Person.

Responsibilities

• Own the testing process from planning to product delivery for autonomous undersea systems.
• Plan tests and track requirements.
• Design or acquire necessary test equipment and maintain inventory.
• Direct on-water and lab testing, including vessel support and launch/recovery.
• Document test activities for internal use and customer verification.
• Identify failures and lead root-cause investigations.
• Manage budgets and timelines for testing activities.
• Ensure safety and contingency planning for complex maritime tests.
