Job summary

Sun Technologies in Goleta, CA is seeking a Test Engineer – Level 2 to design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment. This contract role runs up to 12 months and may extend, with a pay rate of $50-90/hr.

Responsibilities include planning labor, testing standard and special devices, data analysis, and collaboration with the Operating Unit. Travel ~10% between Oxnard and Goleta; preferred LabVIEW, Jira, and Confluence skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in STEM with 2 years of test experience; OR Master’s Degree in STEM.
• Experience troubleshooting test equipment, test tooling, and test harnesses.
• Experience with testing automation or lean manufacturing/testing methodologies.
• Demonstrated technical writing and/or procedure development skills.
• Ability to travel between the Oxnard, CA, and Goleta, CA sites and travel to support customers, and needed, approximately 10%.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment.
• Plan and arrange labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing.
• Compile data and define changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
• Test all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.
• Perform product testing, coordinating test planning, setup, execution, data reduction, test reporting, and post-data processing.
• Integrate products to test tooling, software, equipment, and instrumentation.
• Support test data collection, post-test data review, reporting, and verification of test requirements.
• Support technical writing to produce test documentation.
• Participate and present in internal and external reviews.
• Leverage modern tools to reduce cost and schedule of product testing.
