Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Test Engineer II at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. The role covers end-to-end planning, execution, and analysis of ground-based static fire tests for solid, liquid, or hybrid rocket propulsion systems, ensuring propulsion systems meet performance, safety, and mission requirements before flight operations.

The candidate will interface with Government customers and manage schedules and budgets; travel may be required. A Engineering degree with relevant experience and U.S.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline with 3 years designing, constructing, and testing rocket motor systems, or Master’s with 1 year, or PhD with 2 years of applicable experience.
  • U.S. Citizen and able to obtain DoD security clearance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication of technical information, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and analyze ground-based static fire tests for rocket propulsion systems.
  • Coordinate and interface with Government customers and agency representatives.
  • Manage schedule and budget for supported programs.
  • Some travel may be required.

TRAVEL: As Needed

SALARY: 74,000-80,000

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for an Test Engineer II located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. Astrion has worked extensively with the Missile Propulsion Test Division where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality products tailored to the needs of its clients.

Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in designated area of specialization or related discipline from an accredited college/university and 3 years of experience performing engineering duties in designing, constructing, and testing rocket motor systems; or a Master's Degree in Engineering in the appropriate area of specialization or related discipline from an accredited college/university and 1 year of applicable experience; or a PhD in Engineering in the appropriate area of specialization or related discipline from an accredited college/university, and 2 years of applicable experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Thorough, detail oriented, and organized, with excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at once.
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
  • Test conductor experience with military systems.
  • Experience with mechanical or electrical design principles, test equipment and instrumentation is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of telemetry, instrumentation, rocket motor systems, or test and evaluation is a plus.
  • Exceptional customer relationship management is highly desirable.
