Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking an avionics test engineer to develop and maintain test plans and automated test equipment in alignment with company standards. You will validate test systems, conduct performance and environmental testing, and support root-cause analysis during development cycles.

You will collaborate with subsystem stakeholders, assist in capital equipment procurement, and contribute to continuous improvement through metrics and traceability for quality audits.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in electrical, computer engineering or related field.
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining test chambers and automated test and measurement equipment.
  • Sound knowledge of electronics and circuit fundamentals.
  • Familiar with EMI/EMC standards, IEC & automotive standards or equivalent.
  • Familiar with hardware development life cycle.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Passion for hands-on problem solving and avionics integration and test.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain avionics test plans and automated test equipment in compliance with company standards
  • Develop and maintain test standards, interface with subsystem stakeholders, and support procurement of capital equipment to maintain test readiness
  • Validation of automated test equipment and systems
  • Facilitate performance testing, calibration, environmental testing of avionics development hardware per test plans

  • Ability to travel to and work at remote sites for extended periods supporting test integration, commissioning, and training
Desired:
  • Integrated test and operations experience (aircraft, launch vehicles, spacecraft, racing teams)
  • Experience managing complex projects combining hardware, firmware, and software
  • Experience leading the development and testing of real-time embedded systems with a focus on modular and extensible architectures
  • Experience developing hardware to IPC J-STD-0001xS, IPC/WHMA-A-620x-S, and/or NASA-STD-8739.n standards
  • Experience with safety-critical systems development (automotive, aerospace, medical, etc.)
Base Pay Range for:
  • WA applicants is $87,816.00 - $122,942.40
  • Other site ranges may differ

Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
