Test Engineer (2nd Shift)

Location: US - PA - Horsham

Overview:

The Test Engineer on 2nd Shift plays a critical role at Veeco. In this position, the engineer provides support to Manufacturing and Product Marketing at all levels of tool operation. Responsibilities include participating in design reviews, developing test plans for new products, troubleshooting and executing support efforts through to resolution, training technicians, and developing new product test methods and documentation.

Shift schedule: 3:30 pm to 12:00 am.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage review of customer specifications and tool configuration, informing appropriate teams of any gaps.
  • Organize, schedule, and lead in‑house customer source inspections, ensuring all action items are documented, addressed, and closed out.
  • Develop test definition and functional requirements for new products and assist with testing of new product designs and procedures.
  • Perform marathon cycle testing and troubleshooting of equipment, including weekend support when needed.
  • Perform electro/ mechanical failure mode analysis and provide feedback to design engineering.
  • Support manufacturing and contract manufacturers for new product introduction and transition of new products to operations.
  • Perform software and hardware interaction troubleshooting and provide feedback to the software engineering team.
  • Train technicians and new employees on product platforms.
  • Drive continuous improvement of test methodology for equipment.
  • Document necessary additions and modifications for quality audit documentation.
  • Perform disposition of non‑conforming product identified in quality audits.
  • Maintain the knowledge base, including processes, documentation, and system acceptance test logs.
  • Assist technical product support team with troubleshooting installation issues as needed.
  • Manage and support field escalations off/on‑site at key customers.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field required with 5 years of experience troubleshooting complex electro‑mechanical systems (OEM); or a Master’s Degree with 3 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, including multitasking and prioritizing critical projects.
  • Practical mindset with strong ability to read and interpret highly technical documents such as schematics, mechanical drawings, and assembly drawings.
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills with ability to speak with clarity and interface effectively with customers, management, and peers.
  • Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, software, and electrical components of the tool.
  • Experience with semiconductor capital equipment preferred.
  • Experience in an engineering role working with electronics and mechanical devices desirable.
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD drawing desirable.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15 %.
Salary and Benefits:

The expected salary range for this position is $88,920–$130,416, plus a bonus opportunity.
