Job summary

Phillips & Temro Industries seeks an Engineering Lab Technician to support product evaluation and testing. You will maintain lab equipment, conduct tests per procedures, and document results to assist design teams in validating new and existing products.

Responsibilities include safe lab operations, calibration, fabrication of fixtures, and timely communication of test outcomes and risks. A BS in mechanical engineering and 2+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of professional engineering experience required.
• Experience operating vibration shaker testing equipment and environmental chambers.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
• Ability to perform, document, and report tests.
• Proficient with hand and power tools to fabricate test fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure lab safety and compliance with regulations.
• Analyze and define methods to evaluate products; perform tests; assist with validation testing; conduct lab testing.
• Report and document test results.
• Work with design engineering to interpret customer validation requests.

• Fabricate prototypes and test equipment; assist in acquiring new equipment.
• Develop and implement test standards; maintain documentation.
• Schedule lab work to meet priorities.
• Ensure quality system procedures related to the job function.
• Maintain technical proficiency; perform other duties as needed.

Job description

SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Engineering Director or designate, provides product evaluation and supporting information for specified projects. Maintains lab equipment and is responsible for all procedures in the lab facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Maintains Engineering lab area and ensures test equipment is in good functional order including calibration when necessary.
• Responsible for maintaining lab facilities ensuring all safety regulations & policies are adhered to.
• Analyze and define methods and processes for evaluating new and existing products. Perform tests per specified directions and or procedures. Assists Engineering staff with testing as requested including validation testing. Conducts lab testing.
• Reports and documents test results as specified.
• Works with design engineering to interpret customer validation requests.
• Provides project status & risk assessments to engineering personnel.
• Completes all required documentation for lab requests.
• Fabricate prototypes and test equipment as required. Assist in the selection, acquisition, and set-up of new test equipment.
• Assists in the development and implementation of test standards. Maintains documentation system for test standards.
• Schedules lab work based on engineering priorities to meet effective timing.
• Ensures company quality system procedures are followed as they related to specific job function.
• Maintains adequate levels of technical proficiency in subjects relevant to their scope of work.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 2+ Years professional engineering experience
• Experience operating vibration shaker testing equipment and environmental chambers
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings
• Ability to understand, execute and document tests
• Comfortable using hand and power tools to fabricate test fixtures and equipment

BASE PAY RANGE: $70k-$90k

COMPENSATION DISCLOSURE
