This role is highly hands-on and requires strong technical troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, and close coordination with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Field Service teams.

The Test Engineer will develop the test procedures, protocols and documentation used by the Test Technician team. While this position works closely with Quality and Production to support manufacturing operations, it does not directly supervise test personnel.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, maintain, and improve a modular library of electrical and mechanical test procedures for switchboards, medium voltage switchgear, control systems, and related power distribution equipment
  • Support and periodically perform production testing, functional testing, continuity checks, control circuit verification, and other product validation activities
  • Review electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of material, and customer specifications to determine test requirements
  • Support testing of protective relays, meters, breakers, PLCs, HMIs, control wiring, CT/PT circuits, and other electrical components as applicable
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues identified during production, testing, inspection, or customer witness activities
  • Develop documentation that allows for clear test selection based on product type, recording of test results and next steps, including pass/fail results, deficiencies, rework requirements, and final acceptance records
  • Support factory acceptance testing, customer witness testing, and third-party inspection activities as needed
  • Ensure testing is performed in compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards
  • Assist in the development and improvement of test fixtures, test equipment, and production test methods
  • Identify opportunities to improve test efficiency, product quality, documentation accuracy, and first-pass yield
  • Collaborate with Quality on non conformance reports, corrective actions, and process improvement initiatives
  • Provide technical support to Production personnel during assembly, wiring, inspection, and test activities
  • Maintain a strong focus on electrical safety, proper test practices, and safe work procedures in a manufacturing environment
  • Support Engineering with prototype and certification testing, design validation, and product improvement efforts
  • Assist with training production or test personnel on proper test procedures, documentation expectations, and troubleshooting methods
  • Champion Code Orange, the Kratos creed, by holding yourself and your team to a high standard of values, ownership, accountability, and professionalism
