Job summary

Brunswick Corporation is seeking a Test & Development Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers focused on the test and development of outboard and sterndrive engines. You will understand functional and system requirements to meet program goals and drive design decisions.

You will plan, develop, and execute FMEAs, DVPs, and system-level validation plans, work with test labs, mentor engineers, and document results while communicating findings to design engineering and program management.

Qualifications

  • B.S Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience with internal combustion engines.
  • Experience developing and executing FMEAs, DVPs, and system-level validation plans.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation selection.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of engineers focused on development for outboard and sterndrive engines.
  • Understand requirements to meet program goals and drive design activity.
  • Plan, develop, and execute FMEAs and DVPs at component and system levels.
  • Collaborate with test lab to execute tests on dynamometer and water.
  • Mentor and coach engineers to transfer knowledge and skills.
  • Use Concerto / Uniplot / Catman to evaluate system performance and margins.
  • Document development activities and test results in clear reports.
  • Communicate results and recommended improvements to Design Engineering and PM.

Position Overview:

As a Test & Development Engineering Manager you will lead a team of engineers focused on the test and development of outboard and sterndrive engines.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead a team of engineers focused on the development for outboard and sterndrive engines.
  • Understand functional and system design requirements to meet program goals.
  • Plan, develop, and execute component & system level FMEA’s and DVP’s.
  • Work with test lab to execute identified tests both on the dynamometer and on water.
  • Mentor and coach new and developing engineers to transfer knowledge and expertise.
  • Utilize Concerto / Uniplot / Catman software packages to evaluate system performance and design margins.
  • Author clear, concise technical reports to document development activities, test setups, data, results, and conclusions.
  • Communicate test results, risks, and recommended product improvements to Design Engineering and Program Management.
  • Partner with component engineers and analysis team to ensure component designs meet system requirements and integration needs.
  • Work independently to solve complex technical problems while effectively engaging cross‑functional teams including technicians, design engineers, analysts, and program managers.

Required Qualifications:
  • B.S Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience working with internal combustion engines.
  • Experience developing and executing FMEAs, DVPs, and system-level validation plans.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and instrumentation selection.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 12+ years engineering experience working with internal combustion engines.
  • Prior experience leading a team
  • Experience with system modeling tools such as GT-Suite / LMS Amesim / Simulink.

The hiring range for this position is $103,200 - $164,500 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job‑related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
