A leading company based in Austin, TX, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Test Development Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering and over 8 years of experience in mechanical testing and product development. You will be responsible for designing test mechanisms, creating CAD packages, and ensuring product compliance while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Must have 8+ years of experience in mechanical testing.
• Familiarity with automated test equipment methods.
• Experience with PCBA or high-level assembly fixturing.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop test mechanisms for PCBA.
• Create a complete CAD package including Assembly Drawings.
• Interface with vendors and machine shops for component fabrication.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Senior Mechanical Test Development Engineer located onsite in Austin, TX

What a typical day looks like:

• Design and develop test mechanisms for printed circuit board assemblies and High Level Assemblies.
• Develop full turnkey Automated Test Equipment mechanical solutions using manual, semi-automated and automated mechanical techniques are required by the customer.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure product compliance with specifications and standards.
• Create a complete CAD package for testers including Assembly Drawings as required.
• Interface with vendors and machine shops to fabricate mechanical components.
• Create mechanical Bills of Material for designed equipment.
• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in testing technologies and manufacturing techniques.
• Work with CNC router to produce mechanical components.
• Research techniques for robust mechanical / electrical interfaces to a variety of connection types.
• Interface with customers to resolve issues related to product.
• Occasionally design / layout custom fixture interface boards.
• Work with electrical engineers on overall test strategy.
  
  

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Must have experience designing electromechanical fixtures and mechanical mechanisms
• Must have PCBA or high level assembly fixturing experience
• Must have 8+ years of experience in mechanical testing, product development, or a related field.
• Familiarity with automated test equipment methods and techniques.
• Previous experience with Solid Works creating both 2D and 3D designs
• Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to mechanical testing (automotive, medical, aerospace)
• Experience with Auto CAD software (or similar) and simulation tools is a plus.
• Should have experience with 3D printing software and techniques
• CNC setup and operation
• Experience with PCBA layout software is a plus
