St. Electro-Optical Test Development Engineer

Full-Time

Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
  1. Participate in the software, hardware, and test plan development for calibrating and measuring performance of Infinera’s coherent pluggable products based on Photonics Integrated Circuits (PICs).
  2. Be familiar with optical communication basics and identify characterizations of optical transceivers that may impact performance.
  3. Define and configure required test instrumentation and hardware.
  4. Partner with the product team to author, debug, and refine optical calibration sequences to enhance the optical transceiver module's capabilities.
  5. Collaborate with firmware and DSP teams on feature development.
  6. Develop software to automate test execution.
  7. Work with engineering to define and implement detailed testability requirements.
  8. Provide fault isolation and identification support to design and manufacturing teams.
  9. Drive improvements in test yield and reduce testing time.
Education / Experience
  • MS in science or engineering required, PhD preferred (Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience in developing test and measurement solutions for electrical and optical components is beneficial.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Proficiency in writing scalable software; object-oriented languages required. VB.Net experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with quadrature amplitude modulation theory.
  • Experience with testing photonic circuits with I/Q modulators/demodulators.
  • Hands-on experience with optical and electrical test equipment.
  • Knowledge of Serdes, RF testing, and FEC operations is advantageous.
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce detailed test documentation.
  • Experience with digital and mixed-signal IC testing is beneficial.
