Job summary

New York State Department of Civil Service seeks an Exam Proctor to ensure compliant administration of examinations in Buffalo and surrounding testing sites.

The role involves reading instructions to candidates, distributing materials, and supervising computer-based testing, including remote proctoring when required. Candidates must reliably manage exam logistics and data, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Understand and comply with examination guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Read routine instructions to candidates and aid examinees in administration of exams.
• Distribute exam materials to candidates and account for all test materials after examinations.
• Set up and distribute computer testing devices (Chromebooks) and assist candidates with login and submission.
• Virtually proctor candidates using software.
• Complete all required paperwork and report irregularities or discrepancies.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

• Understanding and complying with all examination guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Reading routine instructions to candidates and providing aid to examinees in the administration of their examinations.
• Assisting in the distribution of exam materials to candidates and in the collection and accounting of all associated test material upon completion of their examination.
• Assisting in the set up and distribution of computer testing devices (Chromebooks), and assisting candidates with logging in and completing the submission of their exams when necessary.
• Utilizing software to virtually proctor candidates in a remote setting.
• Completing all required paperwork for the various exams that are administered, reporting any suspected irregularities or discrepancies.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Possession of a High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to operate a personal computer and perform basic computer functions.
• Ability to read, communicate effectively with others, and speak confidently in front of large groups of people.
• Ability to work with a diverse population in a calm and courteous manner under stressful conditions.

Additional Requirements

Travel will be required throughout the School Districts. Candidates will be required to work at Testing Sites at all locations.
