Job summary

The Boeing Company in Florida is seeking a Test and Systems Engineering Manager (Level K) to lead the Experimental Systems Group at Kennedy Space Center. This 100% onsite role requires strong leadership, aerospace engineering expertise, and the ability to guide cross-functional teams through complex programs.

You will oversee process improvement, CAM/IPTs, and partnerships with customers and stakeholders, ensuring safety, producibility, and reliability while driving Lean+ initiatives across ESG.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Active Top Secret / SCI U.S. Security Clearance required.
  • At least 10 years in an engineering role.
  • At least 3 years of aerospace engineering experience.
  • Experience leading teams or large cross-functional programs.

The Boeing Defense (BDS), Security, Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, highly motivated, people focused, and growth motivated Test and SystemsEngineering Manager (Level K) to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG) at Kennedy Space Center, FL.

ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently landed from its seventh and most ambitious flight yet. This position is 100% onsite at Kennedy Space Center, FL.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Define, staff, develop and sustain the ESG Test and STE capability at Kennedy Space Center. Build the operational personnel requirement, systems procedures, personnel training and maintain certifications.

  • Lead the development and maintenance of common processes, tools and standards and implement Boeing best practices from across the company

  • Build a culture of technical excellence and first-time quality and uses metrics to set and meet goals.

  • Provide oversight of technical design reviews and trade studies to ensure products meet performance, safety, producibility, ergonomic, maintainability, and reliability requirements and factors.

  • Drive continuous improvement culture and lead process improvements and Lean+ projects

  • Partner closely with site ESG Program Management and other leaders to ensure executability of new changes and proposals

  • Drive performance to plan for ESG engineering products as Control Account Manager (CAM) and supports the ESG Program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • This position requires an active Top Secret /SCI U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”

  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering role

  • 3+ years of aerospace engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience defining and building a new engineering team

  • Experience as a spacecraft operational Test engineering inclusive of Test Conductor and Test Director roles.

  • Experience as a lead engineer

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a collaborative, respectful, and innovative environment taking steps to improve the value stream

  • MRB certification and/or an understanding of non-conforming product review procedures

  • Experience with production systems such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), and Unigraphics (UG)
