This role focuses on ensuring high-quality releases across mobile and web applications by planning, executing, and documenting thorough manual testing and validating integrations through API and database checks. Success in this position requires strong ownership of test quality, sharp defect investigation skills, and the ability to troubleshoot environments independently. You will partner closely with product and engineering teams to clarify requirements, identify risk, and confirm readiness for release.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain structured test plans, test scenarios, and detailed test cases for new features and regression coverage across web and mobile applications.
- Execute manual functional, regression, exploratory, and integration testing and provide clear pass/fail evidence and results documentation.
- Validate mobile application functionality and user experience across releases, identifying issues in workflows, usability, and device-specific behavior.
- Perform API testing to verify web services behavior, request/response integrity, error handling, and end-to-end system integrations.
- Investigate, reproduce, and document defects with actionable steps, logs, screenshots, and data details to accelerate resolution.
- Use SQL Server queries to extract, insert, and update data to create reliable test conditions and verify application outcomes.
- Troubleshoot test environments by reviewing logs, confirming configurations, validating deployments, and isolating failures to root cause.
- Collaborate within Agile/SDLC ceremonies to clarify acceptance criteria, surface quality risks early, and support release readiness decisions.
- Drive testing quality by prioritizing coverage based on risk, tracking execution status, and communicating blockers and impacts with clarity.
Required Skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on software QA experience performing manual functional, regression, exploratory, and integration testing with ownership of quality and release readiness.
- Experience testing mobile applications, including validating user experience and documenting defects across multiple releases.
- Hands-on API testing experience validating web services, integrations, responses, and functional behavior using appropriate tools and methods.
- 2+ years of web-based application testing, including creating, maintaining, and executing test plans, scenarios, and detailed test cases.
- Working knowledge of SQL Server and SQL, including writing queries to extract, modify, and add data for test setup and validation.
- Experience working in Agile teams and SDLC processes, partnering effectively with developers and product stakeholders to investigate and resolve defects.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot test environments, review logs, validate deployments/configurations, document results, and solve problems independently.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience testing payment-processing solutions, POS terminals, card-processing hardware, or NFC-enabled applications.
- Exposure to test management and defect tracking tools such as TestRail and JIRA.
- Experience using API and traffic inspection tools such as Postman and Fiddler to validate integrations and diagnose issues.
- Familiarity with UI automation tools such as Selenium (or comparable frameworks) to support regression coverage.
- Ability to perform basic hardware/electrical troubleshooting to support testing involving devices or terminals.
