Job description

Overview

The Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center (GPAC) at Auburn University is seeking a TES Event and Operations Staff member. This position is a part-time, year-round position. Reporting to the Director of Operations (or designee), and working collaboratively with GPAC staff, these employees will provide pre- and post-event assistance including cleaning, equipment set-up, execution, and breakdown for rentals, rehearsals, and performances held in the Woltosz Theatre, Amphitheatre at the City of Auburn Lawn and Porch, and Gogue Center auxiliary spaces. Events include but are not limited to: concerts, plays, musical, festivals, luncheons, university programs & events, and facility rentals, as assigned by the Director of Operations, Patron Services Manager, and/ or Operations & Events Coordinator at the Gogue Performing Arts Center. This position will also be responsible for general custodial duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with peers, patrons, donors, and co-workers over the phone or in person.
  • Display substantial knowledge about GPAC events, performances, facilities, vendors, and policies.
  • Promptly address GPAC staff and patron questions or concerns about the facility.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by displaying competence in the use of correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Maintain professionalism and discretion in dealing with organizational and patron information.
  • Day-of-show assistance with cleaning, event set-up/break-down as assigned by the Director of Operations, Patron Services Manager, and/or Operations & Events Coordinator.
  • Promote a friendly and welcoming environment for peers, patrons, donors, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of relevant Office 365 software: Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, etc.
  • Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, walk, climb ladders, and carry equipment.
  • Promote safe work practices and a safe environment for patrons, guests, and staff.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 20-30 lbs.
  • Availability to work late nights and long hours.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
Desired Qualifications
  • Customer service, and event operations set up/break down experience.
  • Knowledge of any concert/theatrical event operations.
  • Ticketing programs/software knowledge.
  • Above-average problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Arrive promptly for shifts, dressed in business casual attire, presenting a professional appearance and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Attend all mandatory training.
  • Follow procedures set forth by the department and university policies.
