Job summary

Brookhaven National Laboratory's NSLS-II TES beamline seeks an experienced scientist to join the Tender Energy Spectroscopy team. The successful candidate will work with the Lead Beamline Scientist to enhance beamline capabilities and support a growing user program.

TES specializes in X-ray absorption spectroscopy and fluorescence imaging in the 2–5.5 keV range, with upgrades planned to extend coverage to 1.7–8.3 keV.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry or related field with 2+ years postdoc or equivalent experience.
• Expertise in planning/executing in situ/operando experiments and EXAFS data analysis.
• Strong publication record in XAS and/or X-ray imaging; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support TES beamline operation and user program in collaboration with the Lead Beamline Scientist.
• Improve beamline procedures from environment to data analysis for streamlined measurements.
• Adapt beamline for autonomous and high-throughput experiments.
• Collaborate on internal/external scientific and technical projects leveraging beamline capabilities.
• Conduct independent research aligned with TES mission and methodology development.
