Job summary

Georgia Ports Authority is seeking a Protective Services Officer to manage gate traffic, verify credentials, and monitor the terminal with surveillance and radio communication to GPA Police Dispatch. Responsibilities include enforcing MTSA-based security, screening cargo and people, and maintaining safe, clean work areas.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, TWIC and a valid driver's license with ability to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Able to articulate facts, alarms and observations clearly in writing or radio.
• Maintain legible handwriting and operate basic word processing and scanning equipment.
• Remain composed and professional during stressful situations and follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Directs and controls motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic at all gates and access points.
• Performs identification checks and maintains control of assigned access points.
• Monitors facility activity and reports observations to GPA Police Dispatch via radio.
• Performs screenings of persons, cargo, vehicles and baggage under MTSA rules.
• Keeps work areas safe and clean and enforces safety practices.
• Detects prohibited objects or contraband per federal/state rules and regulations.
• Communicates professionally with co-workers and the public; maintains professional appearance.
• Provides vessel crew member transport through the facility as needed.
