Job summary

The Georgia Ports Authority seeks a Protective Services Officer to manage traffic gates, direct vehicle and pedestrian flow, verify credentials, and interdict unauthorized entrants at the Savannah terminal. You will monitor surveillance, perform screenings under MTSA and GPA Facility Security Plan, maintain records, coordinate with GPA Police, and support vessel crew transport as needed.

A high school diploma is required; TWIC and a valid driver’s license are expected.

Qualifications

• Able to articulate facts, alarms, intrusion alerts, observations or incidents orally or in writing.
• Legible handwriting; able to type and use computers and scanners.
• Able to stay composed and professional in stressful situations.
• Able to stand or sit for prolonged periods; work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Directs and controls motor vehicle and pedestrian traffic at gates and access points; maintains records.
• Performs identification checks and maintains control of access points.
• Monitors facility and communicates observations via radio to GPA Police Dispatch.
• Performs screenings of persons, cargo, vehicles and baggage per MTSA and FSP requirements.
• Keeps work areas safe and clean.
• Detects prohibited objects or contraband per laws and regulations.
• Communicates professionally with colleagues and port users.
• Provides vessel crew member transport through the facility as needed.
