  • Oversee operations at Anchorage terminal to ensure safety and profitability.

  • Monitor inventory variances and assist purchasing coordination.
  • Resolve customer issues and maintain service levels.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Terminal Manager directs and oversees all operations of the plant in a safe, efficient and productive manner and takes all necessary steps to ensure that the plant remains profitable and operational to the standards of Shoreside Petroleum management. Establishes and maintains a positive and progressive work environment that motivates each employee to deliver a high level of service that pays attention to details and meets the highest standard of customer service.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

JOB DUTIES

OPERATIONS: Responsible for the oversight of operations at Anchorage terminal.

STAFF MANAGEMENT: Responsible for all plant employees including Drivers, Terminal workers, Office staff, Anchorage Station Manager and its employees.

DRIVER/FLEET MANAGEMENT: Responsible for coordination of deliveries and drivers to ensure all commitments are met.

HUMAN RESOURCES: Responsible for compliance with Employee Handbook and the hiring of personnel that are capable of fitting in and meeting the quality standards of SPI. Maintains appropriate personnel records and properly evaluates staff on an annual basis.

INVENTORY: Responsible for awareness of Package and Bulk Fuel Inventory variances and assisting with the coordination of purchases.

CUSTOMER RELATIONS: Responsible for resolving all customer issues and also verifying that products are delivered spill free, on time, invoiced accurately and that the customer’s needs are met or exceeded.

SUPPLIER RELATIONS: Helps establish and maintain strong, positive, relationships with our suppliers.

ACCOUNTNG: Responsible for the financial performance of respective terminal with regard to marketing efforts, inventory control, expenses, labor costs and other variable expenses under manager’s direct control. Stays abreast of Accounts Receivable issues and strictly maintains accounting controls on cash, deposits, truck tickets and invoices.

MARKETING: Responsible for maintaining appropriate two-way communication with marketing staff so that operational ability to deliver is not over or under sold. Particpates in developing the corporate marketing plan for theAnchorage area.

APPEARANCE: The appearance of the equipment, plant and employees are expected to be clean organized and project a level of confidence to our customers.

COMMUNICATION: Be ultimately responsible for safety, conduct safety meetings and inspections and maintain records as required by regulatory agencies. Complete accident investigation and reports for management. Establish and maintain clear communications between all employees, and establish an environment which is conflict-free with a emphasis on respect for others.

OTHER DUTIES: Performs a variety of Terminal and job related duties as needed and assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Any equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience)

Education: High School diploma or GED.

Experience: A minimum of four years management experience is strongly preferred. Strong supervisory abilities required. Must have general knowledge of the petroleum industry procedures. Must have experience in working with customers and management of personnel.

Other Qualifications: Must have excellent leadership skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others and communicate in writing and verbally effectively with others. Must be able to present themselves as an example of Shoreside Petroleum’s quality and professionalism.

Attendance: Regular attendance is a requirement of this position.

English Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Summary: A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of four (4) years previous management experience and a good working knowledge of the petroleum distribution or related industry. A basic knowledge of personal computers, word processing and spreadsheet applications is required. CDL license with Hazmat Endorsement is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to work directly with petroleum products. Must possess or be able to acquire a TWIC card within 30-days of hire.

The Terminal Manager must have solid leadership abilities and be willing to work overtime when necessary and respond to call outs or emergencies while providing excellent professional service to all internal and external customers. Employs effective verbal and written communication skills and is able to lead, supervise and direct the activities of others. Possesses excellent analytical and problem solving abilities as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
