Job summary

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Temporary Shipping Terminal Laborer in Decatur, IL to support daily cement distribution operations. You will help load cement into trucks and railcars, direct traffic, and keep the terminal clean and safe.

Responsibilities include monitoring loading procedures, performing routine housekeeping, inspecting equipment, updating logs, and assisting with inventory and minor maintenance. Industrial environment with exposure to dust and noise is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment with exposure to dust, noise, and varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Assist with loading bulk cement into customer trucks and railcars.
• Direct truck traffic and communicate with drivers regarding loading procedures.
• Monitor loading operations to ensure product quality and compliance with terminal procedures.
• Perform housekeeping duties, including sweeping, shoveling, dust control, and general facility cleanup.
• Inspect terminal equipment and report operational issues or safety concerns.
• Assist with inventory counts and documentation.
• Support preventative maintenance activities and minor repairs as assigned.
• Operate basic equipment such as forklifts, skid steers, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment (training provided as required).
• Follow all safety policies, environmental regulations, and operating procedures.
• Complete required logs, checklists, and work orders accurately and timely.

This position is responsible for assisting with the safe and efficient loading, unloading, storage, and shipment of cement products while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe terminal environment.
