Job summary

Wigan Council is seeking a Mobile Catering Assistant to support school kitchens across the borough. The role operates term-time with fixed hours, avoiding split shifts, nights or weekends, and offers flexible working locations.

You will help set up dining halls, assist with food service, maintain clean and safe kitchens, and work with the school chef and multiple teams to ensure meals reach pupils. A safeguarding check is required.

• Safeguarding responsibilities and Safer Recruitment procedures.

Responsibilities

• Move furniture and set up dining halls prior to service.
• Keep the kitchen clean, tidy and safe and assist with food preparation and service.
• Attend kitchen cleaning days and support the school chef.
• Cover for absent CAs across the borough as directed by the Business Support team.
• Work across the Local Kitchen, Transport & Road Safety service and partner teams as needed.
