Job summary

The Liberal Studies program at OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon, invites applications for fixed-term, non-tenure-track Instructor positions to teach on a term-by-term basis for the 2025-2026 year and Fall 2026. Some appointments may be renewed annually at the Senior Associate Dean’s discretion.

Positions may teach undergraduate courses in History, Philosophy, or Social Sciences; anticipated start dates include Sept 16, 2025, Dec 16, 2025, Mar 16, 2026, or Sept 16, 2026.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in History, Philosophy, or Social Sciences is required.
• PhD or terminal degree in related field is preferred.
• Experience teaching at the college or university level is required.
• Commitment to undergraduate education equity and student service is desired.

Responsibilities

• 90%: Teaching—Administer and teach course(s) term-by-term in History, Philosophy, or Social Sciences; complete course assessments and continuously improve teaching effectiveness.
• 10%: Advising and mentoring students—Advise students, provide office hours, maintain records and perform minor administrative tasks.
