Job summary

The Department of Physics and the Center for Accelerator Science at Old Dominion University invites applications for a tenured Associate or Full Professor position in Accelerator Science as part of a multi-position initiative for Applications of Physics, Data Science, and/or Engineering to Particle Accelerators.

The appointee will develop an externally funded interdisciplinary program in accelerator science using AI/ML, engineering, physics, and related approaches.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
• Expertise in accelerator science and ability to teach/mentor at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• A record of research and externally funded grants with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including program initiatives.
• Advise graduate students.
• Provide service to the department and the University.
