Job summary

UC San Diego invites applications for an Infectious Diseases Translational Researcher in the Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Public Health, Department of Medicine. The incumbent will lead clinical, translational, and/or basic virology research, contribute to teaching, and mentor trainees while delivering patient care as needed.

The appointment level will be Associate or Full Professor, with a mix of Ladder Rank and In-Residence series or 100% Ladder Rank, and salary will be negotiated

Qualifications

• MD/MD-PhD or PhD in Infectious Diseases or related field.
• Independent extramurally funded research program (NIH R01 or similar).
• California medical license or eligible for MD holders.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Disease if clinical duties.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate clinical, translational, and/or basic research in virology.
• Provide lectures in ID fellow series and patient-based teaching in clinic and hospital.
• Mentor junior faculty, postdocs, fellows and medical students.
• Provide clinical care to patients as applicable.
• Appointment at Associate or Full Professor level with 50/50 ladder rank/in-residence or 100% ladder rank.
