Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Music (Applied Voice – Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano or Contralto). This is a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track position beginning with the next academic year.

The successful candidate will teach applied voice, diction, pedagogy, repertoire, opera, and related voice courses, recruit and retain high-quality students, engage in scholarly activity, and contribute to departmental and college

Qualifications

• Doctorate in vocal performance (ABD considered if conferred by start date)
• Outstanding performance skills
• Successful college teaching experience
• Ability to teach applied voice, diction, pedagogy, song literature, opera, and/or voice class or general education survey courses

Responsibilities

• Recruit and retain high-quality applied voice students at undergraduate and graduate levels
• Pursue scholarly and creative activity meeting tenure standards
• Teach applied voice and, as needed, courses in vocal techniques, repertoire, opera, and other related courses
• Serve on departmental, collegiate, and professional committees
• Additional duties may be assigned in consultation with the Director of the School of Music
