The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at University of Alaska Fairbanks seeks two tenure-track Assistant Professors of Statistics to begin Fall 2027. Successful candidates in Statistics and Data Science will have a record of research excellence, or give evidence of promising research potential, and will show a commitment to effective and engaged teaching.

Faculty are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate statistics courses to a diverse student body, develop a vibrant research

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in statistics or related field by July 1, 2027
• Experience with in-person and online course delivery preferred
• Postdoctoral research or teaching experience encouraged
• Record of research excellence or promising potential in statistics and data science

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and graduate statistics courses
• Develop a vibrant research program
• Supervise graduate students
• Provide statistical consulting to the university research community
• Serve on departmental and university committees
