Job summary

The University of Southern Mississippi invites applications for a tenure-track, nine-month Assistant Professor position in the School of Kinesiology and Nutrition, based in Hattiesburg, MS. The role focuses on sport coaching, motor development/learning, or coach development, with duties spanning teaching, research, mentoring, and service.

The candidate will develop a productive research agenda, teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in-person and online, and contribute to accreditation

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Sport Coaching, Kinesiology, Sport Pedagogy, Motor Behavior, Exercise Science, Sport Science, or a closely related field (by August 2027).
• Evidence of potential to conduct and disseminate high-quality research.
• Demonstrated potential to teach at the college level.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an active research agenda in sport coaching, motor development, motor learning, coach development, or related areas.
• Disseminate scholarship through publications, presentations, and external funding opportunities.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in face-to-face and online formats.
• Collaborate with School faculty to enhance curriculum and accreditation processes.
• Mentor undergraduate and graduate students through teaching and research.
• Participate in school, university, professional, and community service activities.
