Job summary

University of Mississippi seeks two full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track instructors for the CAATE-accredited Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program. Candidates will provide graduate-level didactic instruction and mentor students through clinical education, with potential to assume Program Director and/or Director of Clinical Education duties.

Assistant or Associate level is based on qualifications and experience; terminal degrees in related fields may be considered.

Qualifications

• EdD or PhD in Athletic Training required.
• Past teaching experience in higher education preferred.
• Experience mentoring students through clinical education.

Responsibilities

• Provide graduate-level didactic instruction in the MSAT program.
• Mentor students through clinical education experiences.
• Engage in service activities; may take on Program Director and/or Director of Clinical Education responsibilities.

One or both hires may be asked to assumeProgram Director and/or Director of Clinical Education (ClinicalEducation Coordinator) administrative responsibilities. Assistantor Associate level is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Terminal degrees in a related field will be considered (e.g. PhD,EdD, DAT, etc.)

Job Description

Faculty members in this category are hired primarily to perform alimited range of duties. Non-Tenure Track Faculty members areusually assigned teaching or service roles. Non-Tenure TrackFaculty members may contribute to the University beyond this narrowdefinition, but their promotion guidelines and annual reviewsshould emphasize the principal duties. Certain faculty withprofessorial titles in these categories can be permanent employeesand can expect to be offered annual contracts, unless terminationnotices are provided in a timely manner as outlined in theTermination of Non-Tenured Faculty Policy. Visiting Faculty,Faculty Fellows, Adjunct Faculty, or Artists/Writers-in-Residenceare generally considered temporary employees. For these latterappointments, the employment period must be specified in theemployment notification and renewal of their appointments is at thediscretion of the University.
