Job summary

Boston College invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time Assistant Professor of Special Education in the Lynch School of Education and Human Development, Boston, MA, beginning Fall 2027. We seek scholars with expertise at the elementary and/or secondary level in special education and literacy, assessment, transition, or teacher education.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field, with experience in K-12 inclusive special education.

Qualifications

• PhD in Education, Special Education, or related field is required.
• Experience with K-12 inclusive special education is required.
• Evidence of research productivity and potential to secure external funding.
• Ability to communicate research to broader publics and to contribute to program development.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a productive research agenda with external funding.
• Teach two courses per semester in graduate and undergraduate programs.
• Advise students and participate in program development.
• Collaborate on department and university service and committees.
• Contribute to the Lynch School of Education and Human Development through teaching and service.
