Middlebury College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Religion in Applied Ethics starting Fall 2027. The field is open across traditions, geographies, and major ethical topics.

Teaching includes ethics at the intersections of religion and medicine and/or technology, with opportunities in information, media, legal, and environmental ethics. The candidate will teach medical ethics/bioethics, contribute to the Introduction to Religion course, and supervise

Qualifications

• Grounded in at least one religious tradition.
• Ability to teach ethics at intersections of religion and medicine and/or technology.
• Other areas may include information, media, legal or environmental ethics.

Responsabilités

• Teach at least one course on medical ethics and/or bioethics.
• Deliver lectures and seminars on other ethics topics.
• Contribute to interdisciplinary programs and the team-taught Introduction to Religion course.
• Engage in service to the College, including committee work and program leadership.
