Job summary

Miami University invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in Medical Ethics, with competence in other areas of applied ethics and/or environmental philosophy, starting Fall 2027. The successful candidate will teach Medical Ethics at least once a year, and possibly every semester; the remaining load includes introductory courses and other Applied Ethics courses.

The College of Arts and Science has a growing emphasis on preparing students for healthcare careers.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Philosophy by time of appointment; teaching experience and demonstration of teaching effectiveness.
• Non-tenure track, renewable with opportunities for promotion.
• Experience in Medical Ethics or applied ethics desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach Medical Ethics at least once a year, and possibly every semester.
• Load includes introductory courses and other Applied Ethics courses.
• Collaborate with Mallory-Wilson Center for Healthcare Education.
• Provide department and university service.
