The ReligionDepartment at Middlebury College invites applications for afull-time tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professorin Applied Ethics beginning fall2027. The field of specialization is open with respect to religioustraditions, geographical regions, and major ethical topics. The successful candidate must be grounded in at least one religioustradition and able to teach courses on ethics at the intersectionsof religion and medicine and/or technology. Other areas may includeinformation, media, legal or environmental ethics.

Teaching responsibilities would include at least one course on medical ethics and/or bioethics as well as lectures and seminars onother topics in ethics. The successful candidate will also beprepared to contribute to our team-taught “Introduction toReligion” course and a senior seminar in theories and methods inthe study of religion. There may be opportunities to contribute tointerdisciplinary programs; see department website for more information.

As part of a full-time teaching load, the candidate will contributeto Middlebury's First Year Seminar program and Winter Term courseofferings. All faculty at Middlebury are also expected tocontribute to service to the College including, but not limited to,committee membership and serving as Director or Chair of a Programor Department.

This is a full time, benefits eligible, salariedposition with a hiring range of $91,462 - $103,138 peryear.
