The Psychology Department at the University of Mount Saint Vincent invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2027. While specialization is open, areas include forensic psychology or neurodevelopment, with emphasis on undergraduate teaching in an urban liberal arts college in New York.

The successful candidate will teach 21 credits per year, develop new courses, mentor undergraduates in research, and participate in governance and departmental

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Psychology or a closely related field from an accredited institution; candidates who are ABD on track to confer their degree by August 2027 will be considered.
• Teaching or research expertise in one of the department’s priority areas (e.g., biological, cognitive, social, sociocultural, developmental, clinical).
• Evidence of, or demonstrated potential for, excellence in undergraduate teaching.
• Commitment to teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
• Potential to maintain an active research program involving undergraduate students.
• Commitment to departmental service and University governance.

Responsibilities

• Teach introductory psychology courses and courses in the candidate’s area of specialization.
• Develop new courses for the curriculum.
• Engage undergraduates in an active research program within the department.
• Provide meaningful opportunities for undergraduate research participation.
• Academic advising for students and participation in departmental activities and governance.
