Job summary

Diablo Valley College seeks a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychology to begin August 2027. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses in-person and online, engaging diverse students and addressing equity and inclusion in the classroom.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate commitment to social and racial justice, participate in department and college committees, and contribute to ongoing program improvement and assessment activities.

Qualifications

• Master's in Psychology OR Bachelor Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts or Master's in Counseling, Sociology, Statistics, Neuroscience, or Social Work.
• Equivalency petitions acceptable if exact degree title is not met.
• Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a NACES agency prior to equivalency process.

Responsibilities

• Advancing equitable student learning through exemplary instruction in accordance with course outlines.
• Participating in the assessment of student learning outcomes for courses and programs.
• Collaborating in curriculum development and program review.
• Engaging in department and college committees and professional development.
• Maintaining current knowledge in psychology and teaching strategies.
• Informing students of course requirements and evaluation procedures.
• Preparing and grading assignments and exams and recording progress.
• Posting and maintaining office hours per policy.
• Participating in shared governance and college initiatives.
